About the hospital
Michael Garron Hospital stands at 825 Coxwell Avenue in Toronto, at Coxwell and Mortimer Avenues. It opened in 1929 as Toronto East General Hospital and took its current name in 2015, so you may still hear the old name. Today, it is an acute care hospital with an emergency department, a family birthing centre, pediatrics, surgery, medicine, mental health programs, complex continuing care and rehabilitation.

Check the unit first
Not every unit allows fresh flowers or plants, intensive care and care for weakened immune systems in particular, and the rules can change. The family will know, or you can ask the switchboard at 416-461-8272. The hospital also lists a patient directory line at 416-469-6487, which can help if you are not sure of the unit. Where flowers are not allowed, have them sent to the patient's home for when they return.
