Once the strawberry capital of Ontario
Clarkson takes its name from Warren Clarkson, who came from New York State as a teenager in 1808 and later built the first store on the stagecoach trail that became Clarkson Road. Captain Edward Sutherland, who arrived in 1856, is said to have introduced berry growing, and Clarkson became known as the Strawberry Capital of Ontario. In 1915, a sign at the railway station claimed that more strawberries passed through it than any other station in the province.
The past is still easy to find. The Bradley Museum keeps a farmhouse built in 1830, and Benares House stands on the Clarkson and Lorne Park border. Rattray Marsh, the last lakefront marsh between Burlington and Toronto, draws walkers to its boardwalks, and white trilliums bloom there in late April and early May.
Flowers for lakeside occasions
For a birthday, an anniversary or a thank you, our best sellers and roses are a good place to start. Hosting a dinner? Our Christmas and winter holiday flowers and guide to keeping a bouquet fresh are useful in the colder months. Our gift baskets are made to order and need at least one day's notice. Every order includes a free handwritten card.
Flowers for someone in hospital
For a patient at Credit Valley Hospital or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, our pages for each hospital have the address and what to include. Our get well flowers are a good place to start.
Sympathy and funeral flowers
Funeral flowers are delivered directly to the funeral home. Nearby, we deliver to Glen Oaks Funeral Home in Oakville and the Neweduk Chapel of Turner & Porter on Dundas Street West. Add the name of the funeral home and the drop-off time in your order notes, and see our sympathy and funeral flowers or our funeral home list.
