The short answer: a teddy bear turns a bouquet into a gift with something to keep, long after the flowers have finished. It works best for a new baby, a child or teenager, a friend who needs cheering up, or someone you are feeling playful about. You can add a bear to almost any order from our shop, or choose one of our ready-made sets. This guide covers both, with pairings by occasion and a few things to check first.
Our bears and ready-made sets
These are the bear gifts on our site right now. Prices and bear styles can change, so the product page always has the current details.
- Adorable Stuffed Bear. A soft, cuddly extra to add to your flowers. It is the simplest way to make a bouquet feel like more of a gift.
- Plush Bear & Balloons With 3 Rose Bouquet. A plush bear, balloons and a custom wrapped bouquet of 3 long stem roses with baby's breath. The roses come in a choice of colours, and it feels like a small party at the door.
- Bear with Chocolates. A soft plush bear with a box of Belgian chocolates. Bear sizes and chocolates may vary. There are no flowers here, which suits someone who would rather not look after a vase.
- Bear & Balloon Bunch. A sweet bear holding 6 latex balloons tied with a ribbon. Balloon colours and bears will vary.
You can find more small extras in our special add-ons, including cards and other gifts to go with your flowers.
Pairings by occasion
A new baby
This is the classic pairing. A bright bouquet from our new baby collection looks after the parents, and the bear is something for the baby to grow into. Soft toys are usually kept out of the crib while a baby is very small, so think of the bear as a keepsake for the shelf for now. Our guide to new baby flowers covers what to send and when.
Get well wishes
A bear is a comfort to hold, and that applies to adults as much as children. Pair a small arrangement from our get well flowers with a bear for someone at home who needs cheering up. If the person is in hospital, read the section below first, and see our guide to sending flowers to someone in hospital.
A birthday
For a child or teenager, a bear and a colourful bouquet from our birthday flowers can feel more grown up than a toy alone and more fun than flowers alone. The Plush Bear & Balloons set is an easy choice when you want the delivery itself to feel like an event.
Romance and apologies
A bear with roses is a familiar gesture for a sweetheart, and it does not have to wait for Valentine's Day. It keeps things light, which is often the point early in a relationship. If you are saying sorry, keep it simple and let the card do the work. Our guide to apology flowers has more on the wording.
A friend having a rough week
Not every gift needs a reason. A small bouquet and a bear say "I am thinking of you" without making a big thing of it, and a person who lives alone may enjoy having something soft around after the flowers fade.
What to write on the card
Every order includes a free handwritten card, and a bear gives you an easy way into the message. A few ideas you can change to suit:
- For a new baby: "Welcome to the world, little one. This bear is yours to keep."
- For get well wishes: "This bear gives better hugs than I can from here. Feel better soon."
- For a birthday: "Happy birthday. The flowers are for today, and the bear is for good."
- For a sweetheart: "Something to hold on to until I see you."
- For a friend: "A small hug by delivery. Call me whenever you like."
A few things to check
- Hospital rules. Some hospitals limit flowers or balloons on certain units, and latex balloons in particular are often not allowed. Check with the hospital or the unit first, or send the gift home to wait for them.
- Latex. If you are not sure about a latex allergy in the household, leave out the balloons and choose the bear alone.
- Pets. Lilies are dangerous for cats. If the person has a cat, choose a bouquet without them, and roses are an easy swap.
- Whether it suits the person. A bear is playful. For a colleague, a client or someone who has just lost a loved one, a plant or a simple arrangement is usually a safer choice.
Ordering and delivery
Add the bear to your cart along with your bouquet, and include your card message when you order. Delivery is free on orders over $50, so a bouquet and a bear together will often qualify. Smaller orders have a $15 delivery fee. We offer same-day delivery of fresh flowers across the GTA, and you can see where we deliver on our delivery map and zones page. If the gift needs to arrive at a set time, or you would like help choosing, call us at 905-677-9999 before you order. Prefer chocolates to a bear, or want both?
