Flowers when the family has chosen cremation
When there is no casket, flowers are usually placed around the urn and a photograph of the person being remembered. A few pieces work especially well:
- Urn arrangements are designed to sit around or beside an urn on a table, framing it without hiding it. The Spring Garden Urn Flowers and the At Peace Bouquet are two examples. See all of our cremation and urn flowers.
- Standing sprays on an easel stand beside the urn or photograph, and are a fitting gift from co-workers, neighbours or a parish group. See standing sprays.
- Wreaths are a traditional tribute from close family and friends. See wreaths.
- Vase and basket arrangements suit a side table, and the family can take them home afterwards. See sympathy arrangements.
If the family is holding a funeral with the body present before cremation, a casket spray from the immediate family is also traditional. The funeral director can tell you which kind of service is planned.
A memorial on a different day
With cremation, a memorial service or the placing of the urn in a niche or crypt is sometimes held days or weeks after the death. Check the date with the family or the funeral home before you order, and send your flowers for that day. If you missed the service, a vase arrangement or a potted plant delivered to the family home is always welcome.
Choosing colours
White and cream are the most traditional sympathy colours, and our white flowers include sprays and vase designs. Soft pastels, or the favourite colours of the person being remembered, are also a thoughtful choice.
